Bruce Evans

Bruce Evans is a multi-media artist who uses holography, audio, stereo photography, and interactive electronics to create his eclectic installations. His work has been exhibited in several national and international venues, including The Fourth International Exhibition of Holography in Chicago, and Image du Futur in Montreal. He has recently released an independently-produced cassette of music, and has just completed a new body of work for his solo exhibition Species Pieces.

His piece "Puddle" is an interactive holographic installation featuring a white-light reflection hologram beneath a small pool of water, set into a frame of broken asphalt. When viewed from a distance, it appears to be a misplaced pot-hole, and the sounds of a busy street are heard. Moving closer, and peering into this pot-hole, a holographic image of a frog and a stream bed suddenly appears. At the same instant, a motion sensor positioned near the hologram detects the viewer and triggers digital electronics to replace the urban sounds with those of a stream. Moving away from the installation, the image vanishes, and the street sounds return.
