From 1978 to 80 I was the Xerox monitor at Algonquin College, and I started to experiment with scanning and rescanning drawings and photos. I postered the school and the downtown streets of Ottawa.
This became a campaign involving collaborators Adly Gawad, Bruce Hefler, and Dan Tippins under the names Navoo Davoo/Navoo Dada. The first poster is a drawing from superimposed photos, Xeroxed and stenciled. I was impressed by the fuss that arose when I plastered the school and surrounding area. From there we started making posters that were under the group name, IDed only by our SIN numbers (which I have distorted, because that really was a bad idea).
